Another Win!
The magic of July 24th continues and the Red Sox have won two in a row - beating Baltimore 7-2 last night and find themselves only 1 1/2 games back of the Yankees this morning. Thank you Oakland!

No one wanted to be left out last night! Jacoby Ellsbury hit two doubles scoring two runs and he stole his 43rd base. Too bad the kid didn't do much.
And it was one of those nights. The first 5 runs that the Red Sox scored (3 in the first, 1 in the second and 1 in the 4th) all came with 2 outs in each of those innings. LaRoche got a little anxious and hit his 2 run blast with no outs. Hey, he's the new kid; he'll learn how we do things in Boston! lol!
I know that it is only a two games but I'll take it. Winning two games in a row is so much better then losing two games.

I am heading out to Fenway today to see the last game in the series against the Orioles. John Smoltz is taking the mound today and I am hoping that, just like Brad Penny did Friday night, Smoltz will have the best game of his career as a Red Sox. Starting at 12:30 over on MLB Network will be the induction ceremony at the Baseball Hall of Fame and Jom Rice and Rickey Henderson will take their places along side all the other baseball greats. I imgaine that they will show parts of that ceremony on the screen at Fenway. We're sitting out in the bleachers - and while it was suppose to be a nice day today the clouds are thickening up fast - but I'll try and take some pictures. But even if I don't - you can never beat a day spent in a ballpark!

Have a great time at the ballpark Julia. I love the cake! I bought this stackable cake pan and you can shape one as a baseball but.....I have not used it. figures with me, buying things and not using them.

Well, the Yankees eight game winning streak finally ended; the Red Sox have now won two straight games; and, the Rays won a big comeback game [10-9 in 12 innings] !!! ... It can only be the pennant race heating up in the AL East !!! ... By the way, I think it was a great move by the Red Sox, trading for Adam LaRoche ... He will def help them down the stretch, and give the Sox a few more options on the field and off the bench !!!

The Red Sox have a lot of catching up to do, they'll have to take care of their business against the Orioles, which I think will be a sweep in the BoSox favor.

Tough day today, huh? Sorry that things didn't go totally your way. But you got to get to the ballpark, and that helps to make everything ok, right? I'm sure a beautiful day at Fenway in a loss beats watching a win on tv.

Thanks for the birthday wish! Of course, it was very sweet of you to give me a Red Sox loss too! ;) Seriously, I am sorry that your day was dampened by the loss to the Orioles but hopefully you had a great time at Fenway Park anyway! I will be going to the San Francisco Giants game next Sunday at AT&T Park agains the Philadelphia Phillies. It's great to be home again, although I will miss the close proximity to Yankee Stadium. Have a great afternoon!
